The Truth about McCain & Women: Devastating!
Sun Jun 15, 2008 at 05:16:14 AM PDT
As we all know, McCain is trying to try court Hillary supporters and women in general by trying to portray himself as this "maverick" and "moderate". But the truth is that McCain has an absolutely HORRIBLE record on women's issues.
Furthermore in terms of Hillary supporters, many of them do not know that McCain only a few years ago told an absolutely unforgiveable joke about Hillary's family because he attacked Chelsea Clinton when no politician should attack a candidate's child. He made an extremely crude sexual joke about Hillary, Chelsea Clinton, and Janet Reno. He said "Chelsea Clinton is so ugly that her fatehr is Janet Reno". Disgusting man. http://www.salon.com/...
Well it's time to pull back the facade that is known as "John McCain" on women's issues. Sit back and learn the truth.
One of the biggest concerns that women should have about McCain is that he will indeed overturn Roe vs Wade if he becomes president. As we all know the next president may appoint 2-3 judges to the supreme court, replaces some of the more liberal judges on that court with extremist right wing ones like Scalia. Right now the supreme court supports a women's right to choose by a 5 to 4 margin. Once 2-3 more liberal judges are replaced, there goes Roe vs Wade.
In terms of specifically Roe vs Wade, McCain as late as yesterday said that Roe vs Wade was "a bad decision" http://blogs.abcnews.com/... Furthermore on his own website McCain touts OVERTURNING Roe vs Wade. http://www.johnmccain.com/...
In terms of his NARAL score card, in the past 8 years McCain has gotten an NARAL score card of "0" (Obama's has "100").
Let's run down McCain's other devastating votes and views on women's and family issues:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/...
According to Ariana's post, McCain did the following:
"He voted to shut down the Title X family-planning program, which provides millions of women with health care services ranging from birth control to breast cancer screenings.
He voted against legislation that established criminal and civil penalties for those who use threats and violence to keep women from gaining access to reproductive health clinics.
He voted to uphold the policy that bans overseas health clinics from receiving aid from America if they use their own funds to provide legal abortion services or even adopt a pro-choice position."
Besides these past votes, McCain also recently voted against equal pay for women (how is that going to go over in Ohio?).
Women NEED to learn about McCain's record.
(McCain also has devasting personal issues with women ie he cheated extensively on his disabled first wife and he called Cindy McCain a "cunt" but I prefer to stay away from the personal and stick with the professional issues).
